Final preparation for a successful Dublin Marathon
Dear runner,
![]() |
| George Anderson - Race Series Training Club coach |
With the Dublin Marathon fast approaching your training is at a critical stage. By now you should have put in some decent mileage to build a foundation, but what happens over the remaining weeks can mean the difference between a successful race that you enjoy, and a disaster that is miserable to run.
It's a fine balance now between doing enough and doing too much, how much speed work to include, what to eat, when to practice your race tactics, how to taper... For most runners this is a trial and error process over the course of several marathons, but for you it doesn't have to be that way.
You're not alone!
For most runners, having a personal coach or trainer is neither practical nor affordable. Having the support and structure that a professional can offer is a valuable asset in ensuring that your preparations lead to the most successful race you can run.
The Race Series Training Club is a support service dedicated to bringing you all the benefits of a team of professionals at a fraction of the cost.

Don't just take my word for it...
Here is what some of the runners who followed my training systems for other races have said.
George,
Thanks for the mails throughout the last few months. I stuck pretty close to you guidelines and was pleased to post a PB at 1:48 (I was hoping for anything under 1:50). My sceptical co-runner (he really wasn't sure about the taper) is a convert as he went around in 1:44.
all the best
Adrian
George
I just wanted to say thank you for all your advice. I did all my training on my own so really did rely on your guidance. This was my first HM and because of your great words of wisdom I found it rather enjoyable so much so that I am already looking for a new race!
Thanks again
Lisa
George,
Now that's over, I wanted to say a big thank you for the emails you've been sending. I've taken some notice of them this year and performed much better than last year when I ignored them! Also the fact that I'm in London Marathon this year and taking on my first middle distance triathlon at the end of May has helped make me take training more seriously this year.
Your emails of advice, support and quotes have really helped urge me on during those weeks when it wasn't so bright or so warm.
Steve
Thanks.
Your training tips were great- I did my best time in 10 years at 1.37.
Best rgds
Martin
Hi George
I ran 2hrs 24 mins - which won't win me any prizes but I was happy. It was the same time I did last year but, unlike last year, I enjoyed every step of the way. Thanks in main part to your training advice - so thanks hugely for your support
Best wishes
Jane
Hi George,
I just wanted to say thank you for all of the help and support you've given in preperation for the Reading Half Marathon, it's been invaluable. I used your programme as it was my first half marathon, and it was brilliant. I started the race with confidence and completed it in under my target time of 2:10, in 2:04. I hope next time to break the 2 hour mark, and am soon to start training for the Berlin Marathon. Thank you again,
Yours gratefully,
Lisa Hext
George
I did better than expected at 1hr 52 and felt consistently energised throughout. Much of that was down to you and your very helpful training techniques and weekly suggested schedules, for which I am very grateful.
Thanks
Adam
